Dubai International Airport is the largest international airport in the United Arab Emirates. Located in the Al Garhoud, it is only 4 kilometres from the city centre of Dubai. It is the hub for Emirates Airlines, handling more than 50% of all passenger traffic going to United Arab Emirates. The IATA code for Dubai Airport is DXB, and is occasionally confused with Dublin's IATA code, DUB. Dubai Airport actually had its beginnings in 1937 when it served as base for a British based boat plane service. Dubai has 3 terminals, which can handle up 80 million passengers per year. Dubai was ranked as the 3rd busiest airport in the world in March 2015; previously it was ranked number 6 in 2014 and 7 in 2013 by Airport Council International.
Terminal 1 has 2 concourses (C & D) and is capable of handling over 20,000,000 passengers. Over 100 arlines are connected by Concourse C in the terminal and it is the second largest at Dubai Airport. This concourse has 50 gates, 28 air bridges and 22 remote gates. It has many amenities including a 17 restaraunts, a 5 star hotel and 5400 duty free shopping zone. Future plans will be to integrate concourse C to Terminal 3.

Terminal 2 is used by over 50 airlines. Though it is Dubai Airports smallest terminal (13,000 m2), it still has the capablity to take in over 10 million passengers, the amount doubling after a recent renovation. Amenities include 2400 m2 duty free shopping zone. Air India Express and FlyDubai have their corporate offices in this terminal.Terminal 3
Terminal 3 is largest airport terminal in the world; built for $8 billion USD, it can handle 47,000,000 passengers per annum. It consists of two concourses, A & B. Below are some of the astonishing features of this terminal:
Concourse A opened in 2013 and can handle 19 million passengers per year. It has 20 air bridges, 6 lounges and 2 hotels. The total area of this concourse is 540,000 m2 with 11,000 m2 of shopping and restaurants.
Concouse B is a massive 675,000 m2 and is dedicated soley to Emirates Airlines. The terminal has 10 floors, 32 gates, and 26 air bridges. The Emirates lounges (for 1st and Business class) has the capacity for nearly 5000 passengers and combine for over 25,000 m2. The retail area is 120,000 m2 and is operated by Dubai Duty Free; this area also contains 18 restaurants. There are 3 hotels in this concourse including a 4 and 5 star hotel.
